Hi Everyone! *waves frantically* So, I was attempting to work and a new random thought just popped into my head!
Today’s Random Thought: FanFiction Acronyms
This topic goes back to my early days of reading FanFiction… I remember when I would be looking through stories and seeing all of these things like AH, AU, OOC, Canon, Slash, Lemons, Limes and so forth, thinking what the !%*& do they mean! If there is a handbook out there I never found it and I always felt so silly for not knowing.
Did I just say “I remember when”??? Oh damn I really am turning into my Mother… I used to always get those “I remember when I had to walk over a mile to school; in the snow; with no snow boots” poor Mom those were the days…
Okay sorry back on topic… Acronyms, why do we use them? Are they really helpful? Do new readers really understand what they are all about??? Well, I thought I would start a little list of the ones that confused me the most, please feel free to add one in the comments or hit me up if I forget a good one. Maybe this can help a few people out and if I get one wrong feel free to laugh and point at me, I get it all the time.
AH – All Human – Yep that’s right Edward and the gang are not Vamps they are in fact HUMAN in these stories
AU - Alternate Universe - Um, I still don’t really get this one totally, I mean sure it’s alternate but how exactly varies a lot in the authors eyes. I do know however that I like these a lot so that’s good enough for me.
OOC – Out of Character – Bella might be a bad ass, or Jasper a domineering asshole, you get the picture.
Lemons – Smexin action, nough said.
Limes – This one I have to say I wanted it to be boy on boy action when in fact I have been told it’s just good old messing around without the smexin. I must admit this disappointed me a lot.

AU is a funny one. Basically if ANYTHING deviates from canon, it is AU. All human is AU as well as non canon vampfic but it doesn't need to be stated in the case of AH because it should be assumed.
(snort) I agree. I think that AU is so very touchy, because basically, everything is AU if you look at it. But I digress. I have started to look at AU as it deviates from the storyline completely. Vamp fics where Jasper is the single one instead of Edward, or Bella meets Edward years later. You get the picture. (shrugs) That's just my take on it, but I guess we can look at it however we want, as long as it's a good story. Who cares. lol Great post, bb. I remember in my early FF days I would see all this and think WTMF does this mean? lmao!
