Every other month here at the TwiWrite Headquaters, we will be featuring a Spotlight author. This month, however, we decided to feature a collab effort between Lady Blue Knight and Siobhan2006. We hope you enjoy their interview as much as we did. We present to you...
Izzy and Steph's Questions and responses are in white.
Lady Blue knight's are in blue.
Siobhan2006's are in red.
Tell us about yourselves:
1. We want to know who Sneaky Snarky Subs is. Tell us who you are individually.
I'm Lady Blue Knight. I work, a lot, at a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant as a Packaging Specialist – Senior Operator. I like to fiddle around with graphics, banner and blinkie making and a little blog designing here and there. Recently I've figured out how to do those gifs from clips of movies.
(Lawd! I think Steph and I just had a flippin' heart attack)
(umf)
(LOLOLOLOLZZZZZ)
I'm having a blast with that! I have a finacee that I refer to as 'The Doofus' (I rarely call him by his name, which is Jeff!) a weiner dog named Vegas and a Maine Coon Cat named Jack. I love to cook and have drinks and I love to write when the mood really hits.
I'm Siobhan2006 (on FF)
2. Who's Sneaky and who's Snarky?
*raises hand* Lady Blue Knight = Snarky
Sneaky!
3. How did you come up with your collab name?
Some friends we met through were calling us sneaky and snarky and we played subs for one of them, so it sorta formed itself.
Umm one of our joint friends from Skype called us sneaky, snarky, subs etc...and Jamie and I just kind of put it all together lol
4. What inspired you to write a fic together?
*looks to Si*
Lack of dark/dominating characters! We were bitching to one another one night about how a fic would be really dark and really great when suddenly the Author would have a change of heart and the dark dominant character would turn lovey and mushy! So we thought, well if we want it done we have to do it ourselves. And voila! LTK appeared LOL
5. What is it like collabing together? Is it easy or sometimes challenging?
I would personally say that it's the best thing ever. We talk alllllllll the time! The entire experience has always been easy and fuckawesome. She will get ideas and be like 'I had an idea for such-and-such part!' and I get all giddy and excited and am like 'Tell me tell me!'
For me, it's been really great. There haven't been any “challenges” to say...Luckily Jamie and I get along great and pretty much agree on most things, so issues don't really come up.
6. Do you always agree with each other on the storyline, or do you have a hard time deciding where to go next with the plot?
It's not so much that we always agree, it's that we've always compromised on anything that one of us wants but the other is iffy about. We make sure that we're both happy with everything that's going on and that we're on the same page. We're very flexible so it makes for a very nice relationship.
Well from the beginning we agreed where we wanted the fic to go and had some ideas on what we wanted to see happen. But an example would be when either of us come up with a new idea for the story line, we present it to the other, then we would both add to it or modify it slightly and then decide together where it would fit in best in the story. Luckily Jamie is just as twisted as I am, so any ideas she comes up with I love and get excited over. Lol
7. What is the hardest thing about collaborating on a fic?
Getting my chapter written in a decent time (I must say that my partner is extremely wonderful and never ever pressures me. That makes things -way- easier.). With me, writing is strange. I get in these moods where I'm super creative and I can do that detail and the emotion-evoking I've been complemented on so easily and I usually just sit down and write all 6000 or 7000 words in one go. If I'm not in that mood I find that whatever I write is just crap and I'm very particular on quality writing.
I would have to say schedules. Jamie's schedule is soooo packed and different from mine so sometimes we don't get to talk daily so if one of us comes up with something new, sometimes it could take a day or so to hear feedback from it.
8. Do you both write the chapters, or do you each take turns?
We take turns but consult each other on them and see if the other wants to include anything else in that specific chapter and whatnot.
We each take turns, but when the chapter is done we send it to the other to modify or add in what they think will fit well in with that particular chapter. And of course when writing the chapter I usually send pieces of it to Jamie as I complete them to see if she can add more to it, or just wants to keep it the way it is.
9. Do you plan to do any other stories together once Learning to Kneel is done? If so, please feel free to share a little with us if you'd like. No pressure. (cheesy grins)
I really really really hope to do another collaborative effort together because this experience has been the best ever thus far. I personally can't see myself writing alone anymore. I have several ideas in my secret folder that have notes, so we have things to check out once we get LtK done! Once we get an idea if/what we'll do, you'll be the first to know!
Well we did do a one/shot for the 'Nightmare Before Christmas' contest, but for future fics I have no idea. We've thrown around more ideas, but who knows! Maybe!
10. As you both write a very dark, what we assume is going to be, D/s story, are you supportive of the lifestyle outside of FF?
As long as it's done responsibly, I'm extremely supportive of it. I dabble in it from time to time on a part-time basis, but with my leader-type personality it's hard to be consistent with it.
Lol Very Supportive! Live it and love it *wink*
11. What causes are you writing for at the moment?
Fandom Against Domestic Violence. We did a piece on how Jasper found Bella for that one.
Umm Jamie wrote a little something of LTK for the Fandom Against Domestic Violence.
12. Individually, do you have other stories, and if so, tell us a little about them and where to find them?
I can be found here:
Lady Blue Knight Fan Fiction
I love to do one shots. I have a few in the works that I haven't posted yet. Those will be put up over at TwiWrite when I'm done with them.
The Pool Boy was my first story I did and was about a Jasper who worked a lot and a playful housewife Bella who love to roleplay.
A Belated Christmas Present is my first attempt at slash and it's about Bella giving Jasper one of the ultimate gifts. Edward for the day. They're swingers and she knows they want each other. So she delivers, complete with a bow.
Baking Brownies is a o/s about the fun and joy of baking. It's also about how that time waiting for your sweet delights don't have to be torturous. *snicker*
The Reawakening of Jasper Whitlock is a story told in drabbles. I only have 2 or 3 little chapters left, and I haven't updated it in forever, but I do intend to finish it. It just has to come to me. The story shows Jasper's descent into darkness over an event and coming out on the other side of it with some help.
Counterbalance is about Bella knowing some about the realm of BDSM and seeking out someone to participate in it with. Enter Judge Whitlock. Bella will learn to use her submission as a source of strength in other situations. This is on temporary hiatus until LtK is finished.
I do. They're over at TWCS. One is a J/B Vamp D/s story that I'm modifying up a bit and the other 2 are J/B D/s, Teacher/student. Then there's a one shot I did for the 80's movie contest that is E/B. My first E/B I've ever tried to write and first story without D/s themes.
13. What is the hardest thing about being a FF author?
Trying to be as original as possible while still drawing off some canon aspects. It's hard to do something totally different in a sea of other amazing stories.
For me I would have to say the updating part. Your readers get so into your story then start asking for updates a couple days later. It's almost pressuring because you want to update again, but at the same time you don't want to sit down and write complete crap if you're just not in the mind set to write right away again.
14. What is the best thing about being a FF author?
Meeting all the people that you meet!
The love and reviews! Lol And the friends that you can make online.
15. Have you ever gotten flames before on your story (collab or apart)? If so, how do you deal with them?
I wouldn't say that we've gotten a flame for LtK nor have I gotten a flame for one of my stories, but we have had some reviews that were critical and not so positive. Then again if the author notes were read they could have saved their time. But I digress. First I get really pissed and then bitch about them for a little bit to Si or make some comment on Twitter and then I go on my merry way after it's all out of my system. I guess I just say my piece and go on.
For LTK it hasn't been so much flames. Everyone either likes it or just nicely tells us that it's not for them. On my own stories I've received millions lol (okay, maybe not millions! But a lot!) And the best way to handle them is to ignore them. There have been a few that bug me, but I send 'em to be bitchslapped by HH or just vent it out to Jamie lol
16. What is the best review you've ever received?
That's a really, really hard question. Some of my favorites are from Jaspers Izzy, Cullen818, Calliso, angelndeskyes, evenflo78, CentauRita, anadabyel, frlarsson and CharliDenae have all left reviews that made me feel like I really hit a home run and nothing else can bring me down for the rest of the day. Not even a fight with the Doofus.
It was one that told us that our story was the most unique that they've ever read, and that our details were the best. It was so flattering to hear!
17. Who are your favorite authors and why?
Idreamofeddy, Cullen818, kharizzmatik, Oracle Vas, Hammer Hips, TwistedforTwilight, Mynxi, Siobhan2006 and Chicklette are all authors that I automatically go to check out if I'm really craving something amazing. All of their stories have things that I value most in the real of literature; quality content and originality. They suck me in and don't let go until the story has come to a close.
Jess2002, Cullen818, rmcrms5, KitsuShel, Johnnyboy7, Jaspers Izzy, Robicorn, Butterfly Betty, GreenEyedGirl17, HammerHips. I think that's all of them....But these people can write anything and immediately grab my attention and make me desperate for more!
18. What are your favorite stories and why?
Colliding Meteors, A Murmer of Fire in the Vein, When Darkness Turns To Light are three of my top favorites because they really sold me on the Jasper/Bella pairing. I almost stopped reading Twilight FF because I was so bored of Edward/Bella. Edward really lost his appeal with me for a long long time. I remember opening A Murmer of Fire and being all O.O over it being Jasper/Bella that I had to just stop for a minute before deciding to suck it up and try it. I loved it and then looked for more. I then read Colliding Meteors and When Darkness Turns to Light and it solidified my love for the pairing.
Really, anything written by those Author's are my favorite stories.
19. Are you writing for any charities or causes?
Yes, we've written for Fandom for Preemies and Fandom Against Domestic Violence.
Just the FADV one. But I'm sure we'll come up with more outtakes and submit them for good causes as they come up.
20. What advice do you have to give those starting out in FF?
Don't ever give up and don't lose focus. Also, find a beta. They are soooooooo helpful!
Use a Beta! Or get a second pair of eyes! If the story has too many grammar/spelling etc mistakes, it makes it too hard to read. For me at least lol Oh and spell check is your best friend, use it!
21. Do you ever plan to become a RL published author one day?
I do eventually. I have a fantasy piece I've been developing on and off for the past couple of years.
It would be nice, but I'm not that good lol (BULLSHIT!)
22. Do you run any fan sites or blogs that you'd like to tell us about?
Si and I run Twilight: Between the Sheets and Everywhere Else. It's a place where we do recs, put things up about Learning to Kneel until I make it its own home, rant, rave, display our randomness. I do grammar and spelling segments from time to time. It can be found here: http://twilightbetweenthesheets.blogspot.com/
I have my own personal Twi blog where I put up my graphic work and it can be found here:
http://desperadowarlordsandgracelessswans.blogspot.com/p/gallery.html
We have our blog www.twilightbetweenthesheets.blogspot.com that we made for LTK where we post pics and do out recs and interviews. Things like that.
23. Where do you go to find a good story rec?
Jasper's Naughty Girls, Darkest Temptations, Wordy Bitches, TwiWrite and Twitter. (WE BLUSH!)
Mostly by reading interviews and on FF looking at my favorite Author's 'Fav' list lol
24. What advice would you give to those who struggle with writing lemons?
Well what I do is draw off of personal experiences. I guess for advice I would have to say: Don't try to make it “perfect”. Merina Green does an excellent job of this in Running where they're in the hot springs. Bella and whale noises is all I'm going to say on that!
It can be uncomfortable and my advice would be to maybe take it slowly. Maybe write out a piece of a lemon and have someone else finish it and just work your way up. Write more and more of the lemon, until you finally write out a full one. Once you get past that first lemon, the rest get easier ;)
25. What turns you off in a fic?
Besides poor grammar and spelling, a lack of originality. Recurring themes do happen because we're all writing off the same characters. The thing to remember is that there's always a way to put your own spin on things.
Too much sex! I know I know. Crazy, but when the characters are doing it 10 times a day whether it's vampy or human, it's just too much for my poor brain to take in! Lol I would rather read one fucktastic lemon in a whole story then read a bunch of half ass written ones in one chapter.
26. What do you think is overdone in FF?
Darlin', Love and God of War (with the exception of where this one originated from!) are sometimes overdone in fics. Not that the stories they're used in aren't awesome or wonderful, but sometimes I'd just like to see someone get creative and think up a new title every once in a while, ya know?MEN!!!)
27. Do you read any “off-the-wall” pairings? If so, who?
Lifelesslyndsey has an amazing Alistair/Bella fic that I really love called Hit and Run.
Not really. I'll occasionally read Bella/Paul....is that off the wall? Lol
28. Is there any pairings you don't read?
I'm not into the Wolves at all, so I have always shied away from them.
Not really. If it's well written and has a solid plot, I'm game for it lol
29. Team Vamp, Team Wolf, or Switzerland?
Team Vamp!
Ahhh Switzerland for sure! I love them all.
30. What is your greatest achievement in regards to your writing, together or separate?
On my own, writing The Pool Boy was a big personal achievement because I gathered the confidence and courage to step out there myself. It's mainly because one of my favorite authors, TwistedforTwilight, not only enjoyed it, but encouraged me to post it. And so I did. It has lead me here to writing LtK with Si. I'm grateful to her for that dose of courage. Otherwise I'd probably still be lurking in the shadows.
In the collaborative sense, we've almost hit 1000 reviews! That just makes me do all sorts of little dances. Not to mention all the recs we've received and the Immortal Sin Award we got too!
It would have to be LTK winning the Best AH story in the Immortal Sins Awards.
Learning to Kneel questions:
1. How did you come up with the idea of LTK?
We were talking before on how a lot of dark characters don't stay dark throughout the fic, but change into what we call 'fluffy bunnies' and we also found the Gor books. So we got to talking and throwing ideas back and forth and shabam! Chatper 1 formed itself!
Well we were wanting to write something dark where the character would stay that way and after tossing around some ideas LTK was born! It just took some talking and negotiating.
2. Where are you getting the inspiration to write this Jasper? He’s so different from any other in FF.
I personally envision this Jasper sort of as canon Jasper while he was with Maria. Maybe this would have been what he could have been like had he and Maria had it out and he offed her and became the territory holder.
For me, it's just my dark and twisted mind. When writing our Jasper I go to the dark corners of my mind and pull out what I think would be sexy and hot for Jasper to do or say. It also helps that Jamie loves Jasper the same way I do, so it's not hard to follow her lead when it's my turn to write my chapter.
3. Tell us a little about Jasper. He's dark and quiet, but what else can you tell us about his personality?
He's strategical and intelligent. He knows how to get his way and he's patient. So he can slowly manipulate the situation to where you're doing what he wants without it seeming like he's actually making you do his bidding. It depends on how Virtuous he's being at the moment *grin*. He values his friends like none other and holds them and what family he has left close to him.
He's the silent and deadly type. You never know what he's thinking because he won't allow you to. You see what he wants you to see. Our readers see him as just this dark ass, but he's so much more and so much more is to come into play with him.
4. Tell us about Bella. What is your goal for her in this story?
She has a destiny at the journey's end, but she has to go from a caterpillar to a butterfly to get there. The goal is her metamorphosis and then the embrace of the destiny.
Ah Bella. Poor Bella. *Cough* lucky bitch *cough* Our goal for Bella is to have her throw people for a mind fuck.
5. We have been told from the beginning that Jasper will not change, but can we expect there to be love between these two or at least affection of some sort before it's over?
Yes, there will be love -and- affection. Many times though, it might not be blatant or obvious. It will have a lot to do with our perception of Jasper as the story goes on.
Define love and affection LOL Our ideas of affection and “love” are probably very different from most peoples. Will there be sex eventually? Of freaking course!
6. This story is dark and haunting. Do we expect to see this throughout the whole story, or will we be able to see some light and happy times between Jasper and Bella?
There will be some light and happy times in order to bring a little balance to things. Not too many though. They can be the icing on our ultimately dark and rich cake.
If it were up to me, no. But with this kind of story and the material in it, we feel that there has to be something light in there once in a while to keep our readers sane. And ourselves for that matter!
7. How many chapters do you expect this story to be, or do you know yet?
We have no idea! We have no set storyline really. Just major points and we kinda find our way from point A to point B to point C and so on as we go.
Oh goodness. I have no clue. When writing out a chapter I tell myself and Jamie that it's only going to be so many words and only one scene that I have playing out in my head when all of a sudden it takes a life of its own and turns into double what I had originally intended and becomes not just one scene but three separate ones. *facepalm* So I could tell you a chapter number, but knowing myself and Jamie, we wouldn't stick with it.
8. Can we kick Jamie's ass for taking so long with updates? (just kidding, we blame Si too, heh)
LOL! Don't blame Si, that's all my fault! I get into doing things (Outtakes for charities and recently I did an Awards blog for a friend) and that kinda sucks things out of me. But to answer the question, Yes! As long as you promise to use the 'slut' paddle!
*Looks around shocked and makes sure halo is adjusted right* Me? What did lil ole' me do?
9. Are we going to meet any more interesting characters in the story that we haven't already?
Maybe one or two. We'll meet a 'faction' of sorts within the next 10 chapters that will bring about a very interesting turn of events.
Hmmm maybe! (Mmm, Sneaky indeed)
10. Does Rosalie and Emmett play a bigger part in the story than what we've seen so far?
Yes. For a little more on them until we bring them out more, Awaiting the Arrival shows a little bit on them. We shall hear about several people though straight from the horse's mouth in due time. They play a huge role in his life.
Refer to our outtake 'Awaiting the Arrival'. It shows a little bit more of them and what's to come.
11. Why is Rose and Emmett so relaxed about Jasper's lifestyle? Are they a part of it too?
To an extent. I'm personally planning an outtake, most likely for another charity describing Jasper's history.
Again, more answers can be found in the Awaiting the Arrival outtake. But more light will be shone on that later as well.
12. How does Rosalie really feel about Bella being Jasper's object of... affection? Lol
She feels badly and is sometimes angry over the situation she's in, but still supports her brother entirely. Sometimes she inadvertently takes out her displeasure in an inappropriate way.
You really think we can give away all our secrets?! (Ya'll are no help, lol)
13. Will we get to learn more about Makenna and her story?
It's a good possibility because Makenna is an important character in the grand scheme of things.
I think her story will just come out in bits and pieces, and even then not everything will come to light. It's just one of those things.
14. Do you have plans to do an outtake or chapter to let us know how Charlie, Edward and Jacob are taking Bella's abduction?
It too is a good possibility despite the fact that we shall see a couple of those characters again almost at the end of the story.
*Looks to Jamie* Now there's an idea! (We're totally holding out hope for this one! *fingers crossed)
15. Because this is such a dark story, how are the majority of the readers handling the content? We know how the darker fans are embracing it, but have you had to deal with reviewers who don’t heed your disclaimer?
It's being handled pretty well considering everything. The ones who don't fully embrace the darkness have asked about why we couldn't have done it the “right way”, which got an eyebrow hitch from me. From time to time we get a few annoying reviews that makes it obvious that they're not paying attention to the A/N. If I'm the one doing review replies, I try to refer them to said A/N or copy/paste it into the reply to get my point across.
I think when some people see that it's dark they don't realize just what they're getting into. And by the time they realize it, it's too late. They've already been scarred for life. Haha. There's really nothing more to say to those readers other than: We told you, you didn't listen. Can't blame us because you were too thick-headed to read our warnings.
16. The questions we're all dying to ask... When is Jasper going to tie Bella up and have his wicked way with her?
I can't give an exact chapter or even really a ballpark figure, but it's gonna be a while. We gotta get through the metamorphosis to see the butterfly flutter.
Ah, the million dollar question. Honestly, with us, who knows! All we know is that the scene is set, we just have to get them there! (We swoon in just thinking about it)
17. One of the chapters had some very disturbing material (to some, not us) graphically detailed. How hard is it to write something with such content as slavery or rape?
Well Jamie had the pleasure in writing that particular scene, I just gave her some of the ideas for it. *Looks to Jamie* Was it hard for you to write?
It can be quite difficult. I have to detach myself from my personal feeling on the subject and let the writer in me take over. I've mentioned before, probably over on the blog, that I associate myself with different alter egos depending on what I'm writing. Fluffy/happy/lighter items are written by Lady Blue Knight. Dark/disturbing/heavy material is written by Snarky. Sort of a way for me to ensure things that need to happen, happen (and happen the best way possible) without my emotions getting in the way of it.
18. Is there a lot of research that goes into this fic? For example we see the use of different languages.
At first there was with the developing of back-stories and locations and visual aspects. From time to time we do have to go fact hunting and do some research here and there. Take Jasper's lair for instance. I brought up a map of Mexico on Google and picked a specific location, then made things revolve around it despite the fact that it may not be so obvious to the reader.
Umm we use Google Translator, but other than that, not really.
19. Is this something one/both of you are experienced in, or do you have to ask for outside help?
With the language use we either turn to Google or we ask around. Preferably we ask around. I speak some French and can decipher a decent amount, but I'm pretty terrible with the Spanish. I'd love to find someone to help with our Russian pieces that will come up in the future.
20. Your story deals with slavery in it's own way. Is this just a fic with such themes, or are you trying to raise awareness somehow that these things really do happen in RL?
Both actually. I like looking at it as a subtle way of shining a light on a very ugly, very -real- topic. That being said, it's also excellent themes for a fic.
For me, not really. Everyone knows it happens, it's not really something that needs to be brought to light so to speak. It just fit in well with our plot and ideas.
21. Can you share any tidbits to come in future chapters? If not, we (pout) understand, but you can't blame us for trying.
In chapter 10 we'll find out more about the Romanians and chapter 12 will be a very important turning point.
Well in Chapter 10 and 11 a friend of Jasper's and his slave come to stay with Jasper for a bit, and here Bella gets a new “view” on her position in slavery....

She's taught me the importance of being humble, kindness, friendship, creativity, innovation, how to budget properly, The Golden Rule and how critical it is to help others when you can because you never know when you yourself might need that same help. Last but not least! She had a big hand in teaching me how to cook good Southern food! She's one of the only people who understands me completely.

We'll be back in two months with a new spotlight author. Thanks for joining us.
Steph and Izzy
