Hi everyone! Welcome to the first segment of Nico’s Random Thoughts. I guess I should start off with the basics…. Hi, I’m Nico also known as Nicoconsd. When the ladies asked if I would be interested in writing a little segment for the site, I freaked out. Well, first I had a fangirl moment consisting of hyperventilation, and then I freaked out…
I don’t actually write; I typically like to stay under the radar (although I’m sometimes known for my wacky reviews and/or crazy tweets). Anyway, after my hyperventilation and freak out where I proceeded to ping, tweet, email, and call as many people as I could to calm down, I thought, “huh what would I write about??” Most of the time while I’m doing my day-to-day life, I have random thoughts or plans that I like to put into action. So, I figured, why not share?
Today’s thought is: how can I best stalk my favorite authors…. Oops, did I say stalk??? I meant follow…. yeah follow…
So many times I come across a great story, LOVE IT and I want more. So, I typically have a few steps to make sure I don’t miss a thing. First, I search on the author and see what else they have written. Next, I’ll favorite them so that when they update anything I get a notice (yes my inbox can be a scary, scary place). After that I look in the TwiWrite forums, see if there is an author thread, or maybe a thread for the story I was enjoying.
I must admit at this junction that I really stink at forums. *hangs head in shame* They tend to confuse me with all their pretty blinking pictures and such, but it is a great way to communicate with others that are enjoying the story, and directly with the author. Next, if I want to take my stalking ( oops, following) to a higher level, I look them up on Twitter. It’s a great way to get alerted to updates, new things they might be working on, what they’re reading and loving, or just get to hear them rant about how Jasper is being a doo-doo head… It’s all good fun, addictive, and stalkerish, but hey, that’s why I love it! Well, I better run!
Until next time, toodles! :)
